Order Picking

Efficiently consolidate goods for faster shipping

Order picking can be a time-consuming, labour-intensive, and costly process. Pickers often must walk long distances to get the items they need, which makes the process less efficient. Mistakes by workers and incorrect inventory information can also affect order accuracy.

To address these challenges, efficient order picking based on Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), is essential. GEBHARDT provides tailored solutions for optimising order picking, offering a mix of material flow technology and user-friendly order picking software customised to meet specific needs.

Our solutions streamline workflows for greater throughputs. By automating the transportation of heavy items, your team can focus exclusively on picking or shift their efforts to other high-priority tasks.

Our logistics software can provide real-time inventory data to help minimise errors, ensuring that orders are accurately fulfilled. Our warehouse management software and systems like pick-to-light can also support your pickers with order consolidation.

Goods-to-Person Automation

A goods-to-person (GTP) system uses automation to bring goods to workers. It is often introduced to order picking tasks to eliminate the need for staff to travel long distances. It is comprised of three elements – an automated storage and retrieval system, a transport system and industrial workstations. GEBHARDT can supply you with all these solutions to upgrade to automated order picking.

Storage and Retrieval Systems

Our automated storage systems are designed to support fast, reliable order picking by combining high storage density with intelligent control technology. They ensure the continuous availability of goods and stable performance in multi-shift operations.

At INTERSPORT Deutschland eG, order picking is supplied by an automated carton warehouse featuring 74 GEBHARDT StoreBiter® one-level shuttles and six storage and retrieval machines. The system connects high-speed picking and shipping areas with the storage zone, enabling up to 1,800 containers per hour to be stored and retrieved. This automated storage solution forms the backbone of order picking, ensuring short access times, high throughput and scalable performance to meet growing assortment and volume requirements.

Workstations

GEBHARDT picking workstations are designed to support fast, error-free order processing by combining ergonomic design with intelligent software control. They ensure a structured picking process, high transparency and consistent performance in daily operations.

At JÄGER DIREKT, order picking is carried out at GEBHARDT workstations that are fully integrated into the overall material flow. The material flow system (MFS) controls the tote conveyor technology and lifting beam storage devices, while the GEBHARDT StoreWare warehouse management system (WMS) manages the activation and allocation of picking workstations. Completed shipping units are automatically distributed to three parcel ejection lanes, ensuring smooth order consolidation, high picking accuracy and efficient dispatch preparation.
