You only notice how critical smooth processes are when things don‘t run smoothly. Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA, a company from Duderstadt, Germany dedicated to maintaining and regaining customers’ freedom of movement, had a similar experience when the existing shipping system was no longer up to the task. It was challenging to keep up with the growing order volume and the increasingly frequent load fluctuations. To survive the competition and manage the dispatch processing automatically and efficiently in the future, Ottobock decided to install a new system. Together GEBHARDT, an automated shipping sorter was implemented that ensures just-in-time parcel delivery to the shipping gates thanks to pre-sorted delivery from the automatic mini-load warehouse.
Automated Dispatch Processing Leads to New Peak Performances
The cartons enter the automatic throughput with integrated 3D scales via the conveyor system. This realises pre-sorting according to the storage pattern in the rack system. The Automatic Miniload Warehouse offers on average space for up to 2,800 parcel locations depending on the storage pattern and carton size.
Twelve GEBHARDT StoreBiter® One-Level-Shuttles (OLS) are used in two aisles with six levels each.
The retrieved cartons are delivered fully automatically and just-in-time directly to the shipping vehicle via the shipping conveyor system with integrated goods issue booking. Ultimately, this results in a completely automated delivery of cartons to the transport vehicles.

The football outfitter and sporting goods retailer 11teamsports has completely reorganized the logistics at its new headquarters in Satteldorf together with GEBHARDT Fördertechnik from Sinsheim. With the installation of a high-performance shuttle warehouse and the implementation of the "goods to man" principle, the company sees itself prepared for the growing challenges of the Omnichannel business.
