GEBHARDT Omnipallet®

High-Density Automated Pallet Shuttle

The GEBHARDT Omnipallet® is a next-generation pallet shuttle system designed to maximise storage capacity, safety, and scalability. Adapting proven shuttle technology, often used for handling containers and cartons, the system automates pallet handling.

By eliminating manual pallet transport, the GEBHARDT Omnipallet® lowers labour demands and enhances site safety, while ensuring accurate orders and continuous, reliable operation.

Unlike traditional pallet SRMs, our pallet shuttle is not tied to a single rack aisle or dependent on a parent vehicle. Its omnidirectional movement enables flexible, multi-deep storage and retrieval, making it easy to increase storage density without expanding your warehouse footprint.

With its scalable system design, capacity can be expanded cost-effectively by simply adding more shuttles - future-proofing your investment as operational needs grow.

Benefits of Automated Pallet Shuttle Systems

  • High scalability
  • Maximum utilisation of storage capacities
  • High and low capacities possible regardless of warehouse size
  • Co-operation with conventional conveyor technology
  • High energy efficiency - designed for continuous operation thanks to automatic loading
  • Single and multi-deep storage can be freely combined
  • Suitable for Industry 4.0
  • Higher throughputs and greater flexibility for the storage of pallets, mesh boxes, and large load carriers

Efficient Omnidirectional Movement

Our automated warehouse system uses omnidirectional movements to precisely move through racking storage areas. Guided by intelligent control software, each shuttle continually evaluates the location of goods to plan the most efficient path to complete its task.

Multiple shuttles can operate simultaneously without congestion, seamlessly navigating shared channels and handling two-way traffic without deadlocks. Wide forklift aisles are no longer necessary, allowing for denser storage and faster operations.

Tasks are dynamically assigned for continuous operation, while ultracapacitors enable rapid charging during rack stops. This ensures goods are stored and retrieved quickly, accurately, and efficiently, maximising productivity and minimising bottlenecks.

Features of the GEBHARDT Omnipallet®

Storage That Adapts to Your Needs
flexible pallet shuttle for fifo and lifo storage

The Omnipallet® adapts to any warehouse, from high-performance to low-throughput operations. Its flexible design is not tied to system size and supports both FIFO and LIFO workflows. It stores large units within high-density racking, eliminating the need for wide forklift aisles.

Ideal for production, raw materials, stock, and distribution logistics, it delivers efficient, high-density storage wherever it’s needed.

Intelligent Shuttle Control for Optimum Operation
automated pallet shuttle operates continuously for maximum uptime

The intelligent control system enables the entire system to work effectively without blockages. Robots are efficiently routed through the warehouse structure. Loading management and task distribution are also part of the package and ensure smooth operation. The software can be flexibly connected to a variety of WMS and offers great flexibility.

Compared to many competing solutions, our software can route robots along the shortest route, even if this leads to two-way traffic of different robots or trips under occupied channels. The software prevents deadlocks and blockages and thus ensures high throughput without detours.

Modern Ultracap Technology for Maximum Autonomy
energy efficient pallet shuttle system

The Omnipallet® pallet shuttle uses ultracapacitor technology for power, reducing the need for long conductor rails and lowering installation costs. Ultracapacitors charge quickly while the robots are in the rack, allowing continuous 24/7 operation without extended downtime. Charging time does not reduce shuttle availability, ensuring consistently high productivity.

The innovative mechanical design also reduces the number of installed motors, lowering acquisition costs and dead weight. Compared to traditional pallet storage and retrieval machines, the shuttle’s low tare weight provides a superior payload-to-weight ratio of approximately 1:4, combining energy efficiency with optimal performance in a high-density storage environment.

Case Study: SEW-EURODRIVE Optimises Their Workflow With Automated Pallet Shuttles

SEW-EURODRIVE, a leading supplier of geared motors, frequency inverters, controls, and software, required a modern, modular, and flexible warehouse solution that could integrate seamlessly with their IT systems and showcase the latest SEW technology in conveyor and warehouse operations. The system needed to be both fully operational and serve as a live demonstration of cutting-edge Industry 4.0 strategies.

The GEBHARDT Omnipallet pallet shuttle provided the perfect solution. It delivered a highly dynamic logistics system that met all requirements for capacity, flexibility, and reliability, while demonstrating the smooth interaction of SEW components in real-world operations.

The result is a high-performance plant offering fast throughput, perfectly coordinated supply to production, standardised processes, high operational efficiency, and the ability to expand as needs evolve.
